MailChimp is FREE for the first 2,000 subscribers. After that the prices are still only a few dollars per month. It can take months/years to build a strong optin list. The basic version of Mailchimp is actually free, usually the basic version is enough for most organisations to start with, so really in the first short while whilst your list grows, there is no cost in that respect. The other side is the labour costs of creating and managing your mailchimp account. “From scratch” mailchimp integration usually takes around 10 hours after we have created the account, imported subscribers, tested, created templates etc, so we usually suggest that you take advantage of a Web Site Maintenance contract starting with the minimum of 10 hours to get you started.
