We were approached by the founder of Shanti Som who during 2010 – 2011 was in the process of building their hotel in the Monda area just outside Marbella. The hotel falls under a boutique style hotel with 20 rooms and acts as a health retreat/detox centre. It is being marketed as “a taste of Bali in Marbella”.
They felt their web presence at the time was slightly outdated and wanted to take better advantage of search engines so we created a new web site for them in WordPress.
We made several different designs over the course of 2010 and settled on the design below in January 2011. The site went live on Jan 26th 2011. The hotel itself is being launched in March 2011.
Main Home Page
The home page is using jquery slideshow for the large featured images and client can update the images with next gen gallery plugin. We decided on using jquery slideshow rather than flash due to ios devices not supporting flash.
The 3 boxes under the main featured slide show are also editable from within the next gen gallery plugin and the client can reorder these boxes and texts.
The horizontal navigation menu is using standard wordpress dynamic menu system with dropdowns, all customisable by the client, meaning they can add, remove, reassign and order their menu. We are using cufon text to customise the menu font.
Internal Pages
Here we are using again a smaller version of a customised jquery gallery for each sub page, which the client can customise. The client can assign different gallery images to individual sub pages allowing them flexibility on the visual presentation.
The H1 tags are generated using cufon text and if there are any child pages to any of the pages across the site, we display a list of those pages in a two column format below the intro text for the page.
In the left sidebar, we have given the client a way to display either some custom text for this page or to display some default offers which would appear in the case client has not entered any custom text.
