Spanish Data Protection Check - How To Search the AEPD Database
Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
Data protection in Spain is a serious issue and the Spanish Government has a stern view on individuals, communities and companies that do not comply with the strict rules set out for this purpose.
You HAVE to protect yourself as your competitors, ex spouse, disgruntled employees and anyone with a knife to grind can indeed report you ANONYMOUSLY and the Spanish Data Protection Agency WILL FOLLOW UP.
Not being registered can result in serious fines and of course headaches associated with being investigated.
Some example of Spanish Data Protection you should be asking yourself:
- Have you or your staff been trained on the data protection procedures?
- If you have a website and collect data in any form, has it been registered?
- Is the security camera in your community been registered?
- The web cam showing the mountain behind your house, has this been registered?
- Has your accountant signed a document saying that your client data is protected?
- …..you need to be asking your self these and many more questions. ITS SERIOUS.
