If you are using AVG and you try and send an email and you get a message similar to the following:
"-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!"
or
"I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be delivered to one or more destinations. The e-mail server has responded with the following error.....:"
The issue is usually caused by your AVG software serving (interfering) as your proxy pop and smtp server so you should either:-
- configure your AVG correctly or
- uninstall AVG or
- have it reconfigured by your IT person or whoever installed the programme.
NOTE: if you are using the 123 Marbella Mailtrust service, then its actually pointless having incoming and outgoing mail scanning turned on, because our mail servers already do the scanning for you, so essentially you are scanning clean emails already. Doing the extra scanning also slows down you mail delivery to your computer.
To disable AVG email scanning :
1. Double click avg icon in system tray
2. double click on "email scanner"
3. hit "disable plugin"
4. Hit "okay", close AVG control panel
5. ensure that all your email settings are correct in your email software
